JUNE 2002

My reports focus mainly on the church planting work that I do. This report will tell a little about my family.

EDUCATION
INTERNATIONAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL (ICS) ST PETERSBURG, RUSSIA
Brandon and Jared attend the International Christian School of St Petersburg, Russia. It was started several years ago by Americans missionaries who plant schools like I plant churches.

STUDENT BODY
There are about 45 students each year ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. As you can imagine classes are rather small. The majority of the student body is Korean. Other nationalities include African, American, British, German, Japanese, and Russian.

FIRST GRADUATES
Emily Purcell and Hye Mien (pronounced hey men), class of 2002, are the schools very first graduates. To continue their education Emily will return to America and Hye Mien to Korea.

HOME SCHOOLERS
There are also several home schoolers who join the student body for sports and other extra curricular activities.

TEACHERS
The teachers are Faith Promise Missionaries, just as I am. God has called them to serve in this capacity and they trust God to supply their needs. God uses these gifted people to meet the needs of missionary students. I am grateful for and proud of them. May their tribe increase! Let me know if you would like to apply for a Faith Promise Teachers position.

SCHOOL BOARD
The School Board is made up of a selected group of concerned parents.

SCHOOL SPORTS
Parents and teachers make this a favorite with the students. The school rents a gymnasium within walking distance for Phys. Ed. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Other extracurricular activities take place immediately after school on Tuesdays and Fridays.

BRANDON AND JARED
At the beginning of May a little Russian girl about 9 yrs old was struck by a car as the students were going to the gymnasium for PE. The girl flew through the air and landed at Jareds feet. All he knew to do was run to Coach John Siegel for help.
As they were returning to the scene the driver of the vehicle picked her up and put her in his car to take her to the hospital. An ambulance in this traffic can take hours to arrive. The girl was not a part of the student body and was clearly at fault.
It was an unnerving experience for everyone.

BREAK 1 9
No, it is not a CB channel. There was one more day of PE and nine more days of school when Jared broke his foot playing basketball.
At first I carried him to the recommended hospital, but to no avail. No matter what I did no one would treat him. So I carried him to the same polyclinic that I carried Brandon to last year when he fell and severely sprained his ankle.
The knot on Jareds ankle was pretty impressive and the people in the waiting room let us go first. When we saw the doctor he remembered me from last year and said long time, no see. I was satisfied with the care given my sons.

TAMMY
She also teaches in the ICS and takes care of some accounting for the school. She is a very busy wife, mother and teacher. Each year she makes sure the boys get to go home and see their grandparents. She makes me look good.

PRAYER REQUESTS
1. My wife and boys as they travel.
2. New work to begin in September which will result in more pastoral training.
3. The 2 correspondence ministries Emmaus and The Missionary Notebook by MMS.
